About

A diary that
wants nothing from you.

Virtual Diary is made for people who keep a diary: who write most nights, care who reads it, and still miss the feel of paper. This is why it exists, and what it will never become.

Dear reader,

I made Virtual Diary because I wanted a diary that behaved like one.

The journaling apps I tried all wanted something from me: an account, a subscription, a streak to protect, a feed of prompts, and lately an AI that offers to summarise my own life back to me. A diary should want nothing. It should open, give you today’s page, and keep what you wrote, privately and for good.

So that is what this is. A leather cover, ruled paper, your own handwriting. One page a day, because a page is a finite, forgiving thing to fill. No servers of mine hold your words; they stay on your devices and in your own iCloud. And you pay for it once, because a diary you mean to keep for forty years shouldn’t come with a monthly bill.

Every email to support@virtualdiary.app reaches me. If something about it falls short of the paper diary on your shelf, tell me.

Promises

What it will never do.

No account

There is nothing to sign up for. The diary opens for you, not for an email address.

No servers holding your pages

Your pages live on your iPad and Mac, and in your own iCloud. We could not read them if we tried.

No tracking, no ads

No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no telemetry in the app. What you write is nobody’s data.

No AI

No prompts from a chatbot, no summaries of your life. Nothing reads your diary but you.

No subscription

You pay once. A diary you mean to keep for forty years shouldn’t come with a monthly bill.

No lock-in

Export everything, handwriting included, as an ordinary folder, whenever you like.
